Monday mornings

13:18

Like most people, I am not a big fan of Monday mornings, especially not when it's dark, gloomy and raining when I had to wake up at 7am to commute to my placement. To add to my misery, I had to walk all the way to uni in the rain to find out that the rest of my group mates had called in sick. I then rushed to the nearest cash machine to withdraw more cash as I would have to take the taxi to my placement all by myself (meaning I have to pay a lot more than when we share the fare between 5 people). What a 'pleasant' start of the week, haha.

I arrived Kenton Centre much later than I normally would but was greeted with warm welcome by the staff (who were obviously aware that I'm the only student present on clinic this morning). Later, I realised that being on outreach alone wasn't that bad cause:
(i)I had all the help I need from the nursing staff for the first time
(ii) and because of (i) I got to see 4 patients in one morning, such efficiency!
(iii) I got to shadow provision of dental treatment to an autistic patient (we call this the special care clinic) which gave me lots of insights to what I only learnt through lectures
(iv) I got a one to one session with lots of time to spare to reflect and get feedback with my clinician, which is always a plus as I always find his advice helpful

PS: I'm waiting patiently for my parcel to arrive ( =D ) and I love opening parcels as it makes me feel like I'm opening christmas presents !
